KERA’s “CEO” FEATURES ROLAND DICKEY, JR. OF DICKEY’S BARBECUE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 27, 2012

This October on KERA’s CEO with Lee Cullum

DALLAS/FORT WORTH – On the October episode of CEO, Roland Dickey, Jr., President and CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., traces the history of Dickey’s Barbecue, a Dallas favorite since 1941. Through explosive growth in franchising, the home-grown fare now reaches customers across the country. Regarding how the company deals with rising food costs without raising prices, Dickey states “We have real food inflation faster than monetary inflation. But it’s a matter of what you do about it. We have a purchasing department that’s kind of like a war room. They’re in there every day fighting [for our customers].” Dickey also tells host Lee Cullum that it was his father’s tough love that led him to gain work experience elsewhere before earning a spot in the family-owned chain. “It brought a level of confidence that I couldn’t get by reading a book. I had to do it,” says Dickey.

KERA’s CEO features insightful discussions with successful North Texas business leaders from the corporate and not-for-profit sectors about what it takes to make a company successful in today’s global marketplace and changing economy.
