Observer Readers Choose KXT as Best Music Station in North Texas

DALLAS/FORT WORTH: KXT 91.7 FM, the public Triple-A (Adult Album Alternative) music station in North Texas, was recently voted Best Music Station by the readers of the Dallas Observer. KXT also nabbed the top spot in three editorial categories in the Best of Dallas 2012 Awards: Best Radio Comeback for the station’s eclectic roster of new, local and legendary artists; Best Inaugural Ceremony for KXT’s Summer Cut concert, headlined by The Flaming Lips and attended by more than 6,000 people; and Best Concert Series for KXT’s sold-out Barefoot at the Belmont summer concert series at the Belmont Hotel. The awards follow close on the heels of another KXT win for Best Music Station in Dallas-Fort Worth in an online dallasnews.com readers’ choice poll.

KXT was also recently recognized as the public Triple-A music station with the largest national audience. According to the media and marketing research firm Arbitron, Inc., KKXT FM, which has been on the air less than three years, averaged 308,800 weekly listeners in Spring 2012 unseating the two long-standing public Triple-A category leaders: KCMP (The Current) in Minneapolis/St. Paul and WXPN in Philadelphia. The audience numbers were released as part of Arbitron’s July 2012 report.
